serial #404197, 38 Special, 6" barrel with an otherwise excellent bore, which shows three pits at top dead Center about 3" down the barrel. Metal surfaces are an about 50-50 mix of fading original blue and gray to gray-brown patina. There is some minor oxidation sparsely scattered on the frame and a few areas of minor pinprick pitting on the barrel and cylinder. The backstrap of the revolver is neatly engraved "W.R.A. Co." in cursive script. The checkered hard rubber Colt logo grips rate about very good, they are numbered to the gun. The left grip shows evidence of having the grip screw over tightened and shows a minor crack. The gun however times and locks up as tight as the day it was new. The included factory letter shows shipment to Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1915. Purported by the consignor to have been issued to plant guards at New Haven. Overall a solid revolver with a connection between two of America's most famous and prolific arms manufacturers. (2072-4) {C&R} (1000/2000) SOLD FOR $1495.00
