Niedner 1903 Springfield Custom Magazine Rifle

serial #1404621, 30-06, 24" medium weight barrel with an excellent bore, with very minor erosion at the throat.  Actually more of an open sight match configuration but with a nice sporter style stock.  The barrel is maker marked "Niedner Rifle Corp. Dowagiac Mich." metal surfaces retain about a 96% nice rust blue finish.  The American walnut stock is high-stocked classic style with a flared cheekpiece with shadowline and a nice bone forend tip.  It rates about excellent and has a lovely deep rich red-russet finish.  The forend has a flawless wrap around the checkering pattern, the pistol grip features right side Palm swell and dual checkered patterns.  The butt as well is fully checkered.  Gun is equipped with 1 1/4" sling swivels. Muzzle features a banded style sight base which holds a Lyman number 17 Globe front, the receiver has been drilled and tapped for and wears a Wittek-Vaver dial micrometer sight.  The receiver ring and barrel have been drilled and tapped for steel target blocks, they are present.  Gun features factory two-stage trigger and a low swept safety for use with scope, the bolt handle is low swept for scope clearance as well.  Truly a lovely open sight rifle also equipped for target scope use, by this most-famous of vintage custom rifle makers.  (2036-1) {C&R}  (1000/1500)
