serial #19832, 8 bore, 24" fully rifled damascus barrels with bright excellent bores. This rifle is in wonderful condition. The barrels are gold inlaid on top with maker's address and each lock is inlaid in gold "R.B. Rodda & Co.". The action and locks feature lovely fine scroll engraving in about 50% coverage. The iron pistol grip cap also features the same beautiful scroll as does the lever, hammers, triggerguard and buttplate. The barrels retain 97% original brown finish with vivid damascus pattern their entire length. The action and locks retain 95% original case color which remains quite vivid. Rifle shows very little use with standing breech face retaining well over 90% of its original case color. The checkered pistol grip buttstock and splinter forend are of nicely figured walnut and rate excellent with 95% original finish remaining and with sharp checkering. There are two very minor chips from stock at lower edge of left lock and wood has shrunk very slightly leaving metal proud of wood in just a couple areas, we feel strongly that the stocks wear their original finish. The wedge fastened forend has a relatively small bruise within checkering between the wedge escutcheons. The rifle is equipped with a low profile beaded blade front sight and three leaf express rear sight graduated for 100, 150 and 200 yards. Rifle remains very tight and weighs 15 1/2 pounds. A very fine and rare large bore British double rifle. (2027-211) {ANTIQUE} [Stan Terhune Collection] (25,000/35,000) SOLD FOR $34500.00
