Winchester Model 1894 Special Order Rifle

serial #422434, 38-55 Win., 26" part round part octagon barrel with a good bore having some spots of pitting.  The special features on this 1907 manufactured rifle include a half octagon barrel, button magazine, capped uncheckered pistol grip walnut buttstock, and checkered steel shotgun buttplate.  The barrel retains about 90% thinning original blue finish with a few specks of surface rust and blending with a dark brown patina.  The receiver retains about 60% thinning original blue finish with similar specks of oxidation, the balance being a grayish brown patina.  The hammer and lever are mostly a brownish gray patina with traces of original case colors.  The capped pistol grip walnut buttstock and forend have been professionally checkered in the factory H style and rate very good to near excellent having been lightly sanded and oil finished.  The belly of the forend has two shallow notches added behind the forend cap and the buttstock has a very small chip missing to the right of the upper tang behind the receiver.  A couple of the screws have slightly misshapen heads and the receiver has been scraped along the radius of a couple of screws.  (2011-85) {C&R} [Dom Morin Collection]   (1800/2400) SOLD FOR $1725.00
