serial #78579, 45-70 Govt., 26" octagon barrel with a good but evenly pitted bore.  The barrel retains about 85% thinning original blue finish with a few specks of light pitting, a couple light dings and the balance bearing a brown patina.  The full length magazine tube retains 98% non-original blue finish.  The receiver on this 1893 manufactured rifle bears a dark gray patina with similar specks of light pitting and perhaps 15% original color case hardening that remains.  The color case hardening has faded completely and now shows a pewter gray color.  The straight grip walnut buttstock rates very good to near excellent having been nicely refinished quite some time ago.  The walnut forend rates very good with light dings, scratches, and a very small chip missing from the right side ahead of the receiver.  A Lyman No. 21 receiver sight has been period added and the folding leaf rear sight is likely a replacement.  (2011-35) {ANTIQUE} [Dom Morin Collection]  (1800/2400)
