serial #27037, 45-70 Govt., 26" part round part octagon barrel with a near excellent bore having a few faint specks of pitting.  The barrel retains about 85% thinning original blue finish blending well with a pleasing brown patina.  There is a small blunt ding on the right side of barrel near the muzzle.  The remaining metal surfaces on this 1888 manufactured rifle show a soft brownish gray mix with some specks of older rust which are confined to the crescent buttplate.  The hammer retains very good original case colors which have mellowed slightly.  The straight grip walnut buttstock and forend rate very good with handling marks present.  The stocks retain about 70% original varnish mixed with a coat or two of linseed oil added during its period of use.  The sights are quality Marble's replacements.  The tang screw head is slightly misshapen.  A classic old Winchester in its most popular caliber.  (2011-33) {ANTIQUE} [Dom Morin Collection]  (1800/2600)
