serial #36221, 45-70, 28" part round part octagon barrel with button magazine and a bright excellent bore. Special order features on this rifle include shorter than standard magazine, part octagon barrel and special longer than standard barrel length. The barrel retains 95% original blue finish. The action retains about 80% original case color which is beginning to fade and take on a silvery appearance but does show subtle colors throughout. Plain walnut stocks rate very good plus to excellent with about 50% original finish remaining and having nice smooth surfaces with only a couple minor handling marks. Rifle is equipped with standard sporting front and sporting leaf rear barrel sights. Factory records confirm the configuration of this rifle and show a ship date of October 2, 1889.
