Custom Marlin Ballard Target Rifle with Schoyen Barrel

serial #27110, 38-55 Win, 30 1/4" round barrel by George Schoyen, with an excellent bore. The barrel retains about 98% later, good quality hot immersion blue finish, midway down the barrel is a dovetail seat which is filled with a blank, it has been milled for a scope ring near its breech. The top of the barrel is marked "Geo C Schoyen Denver Colo". The action shows later, somewhat rudimentary quality scroll engraving with punchdot shading and a geometric embellishments, with game birds on each flat. The receiver has then been bright goldplated, the lever is a fanciful Schuetzen style and appears to have been bright nickel plated. Gun is stocked in black walnut, with a flared cheekpiece and sporting style forend with Schnabel tip, the buttplate is curved horn. Gun is equipped with dual set triggers, the locking block and hammer have been re-case colored. Affixed to the forend is a good quality modern palm rest on brass swivel base. The gun was restocked in 1960 by Steve Bornslaeger of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The gun wears steel scope bases which support a Lyman Centennial Century model telescope with crosshair reticle and excellent optics. Gun includes its original false muzzle and piston starter as well as a set of the RCBS dies with a 379 expander, 25 cast bullets, breech seating tool, oak bullet seating rod, manual powder measure and numerous small accessories.
