serial #7202, 32-40 Win, 30" octagon No. 4 Winchester barrel, rifled by Harry Pope, with an about excellent bore.  The barrel shows about 85% later rust blue finish, the factory engraved number six Schuetzen action shows lovely antique scroll with punch-dot shading in the background, it is a mottled pewter and dark gray patina; lever and breechblock are a dull pewter gray.  The buttstock is American black walnut, stocked in Marlin Schuetzen style with a flared cheekpiece, dual hooked Schuetzen butt and Marlin "saw handle" style pistol grip.  The stock rates very good as refinished showing an old repair at toe and one at the heel.  The forend is heavy cast brass and shows overall cast-in-relief flowing scroll with initials at its tip in cursive "L. F.". The underside of the barrel is marked "11" and "41", the top flat is marked "Rifled By H.M. Pope Hartford, Conn".  The barrel shows four sets of drilled and tapped holes, likely for target blocks over the years.  Currently the barrel wears a windgauge front sight, and medium-range vernier tang sight, likely designed for a Winchester tang.  The barrel's rear sight seat now holds a small spirit level.  The gun is equipped with dual set triggers and a period palm rest has been affixed to the underside of the forend.  Included with this nice offhand targeter are the false muzzle (numbered 41) and piston starter as well as a nickel plated re-decapper, an unmarked nickel plated bullet luber sizer, an early Hartford bullet mold marked "Osgood/32-40", breech seating tool, slightly over 100 cast bullets and a box of what appears to be 32-40 virgin brass formed from 38-55 cases.  (Formerly collection M.L. Hueber)  (1915-17) {ANTIQUE} [Ray Day Collection]  (5000/7000) SOLD FOR $5462.50
