Confederate Imported British Enfield Pattern 1853 Percussion Musket

39" round barrel that is currently about 60 caliber with no rifling.  This musket bears the "J.S. / anchor" to rear of triggerguard tang and is additionally engraved on buttplate tang "8216/A" and the top of buttstock just ahead of buttplate tang is stamped with a large "B".  The rear of the left flat opposite lock is marked vertically "SETCHEL".  The lock is contractor marked "E.P. Bond / London" and barrel bears proper London proofs.  The barrel has had its large graduated sight neatly removed during the period of use in favor of a simple open rear sight which has been dovetailed about 1 1/2" ahead of original sight position.  Iron surfaces of musket bear an even gray-brown patina with a little scattered light surface corrosion.  The stock rates near excellent with a little added light finish, the forend area has been sanded down slightly behind the bands, the pronounced "steps" are no longer present.  Brass furniture bears a lovely patina and remains uncleaned.  Musket comes with proper bayonet which bears even pitting and is marked "PINNS&C"(?)  An honest and completely righteous Confederate imported Enfield musket with only a minor forend sanding issue.  (1902-1) {ANTIQUE}   (2000/4000) SOLD FOR $4025.00
