58 Caliber, 34 1/2" barrel with a dark bore. This is an interesting two band musketoon which has an overall length of 50 1/4" and an added saber bayonet lug on the right side of the Model 1861 type barrel, about 4" back from the muzzle. The metal has an overall dark brown patina with some light surface rust around the breech and Springfield marked, 1864 dated lock. The top flat of the barrel breech is marked with a large, "33". The stock has a somewhat rough appearance with numerous small handling marks and blemishes both under and in the added oil finish. Interestingly, the cartouches opposite the lock have been purposely obliterated prior to the refinish. This is a neat, possibly Confederate, non-armory musketoon.
