US Model 1855 Rifle Musket by Springfield Armory

58 Caliber, 40" barrel with a fine, bright bore having light pitting within the grooves.  This is an 1858 dated musket which has an overall dull gray patina on the metal with small patches of light pitting running along the sides where the barrel meets the stock and at the breech around the nipple and bolster.  The stock has a fine, added varnish finish over minor handling marks, and has a faint but still visible cartouche opposite the lock.  The musket comes with a Model 1855 socket bayonet which has smooth, dark freckling on the shank and towards the tip which is slightly bent.  This is a fine Model 1855 Musket overall.  (1902-3) {ANTIQUE}                  (1500/2500) SOLD FOR $2530.00
