54 Caliber, 33" barrel with a very good bore having some light frosting within the grooves. This is an 1847 dated rifle which has a plum-brown patina with some light pitting around the nipple and bolster, but the breech markings are still legible. The lockplate has a darkly mottled patina with some spots of mild surface rust on the hammer, and is marked, "ROBBINS/KENDALL &/LAWRENCE/U.S." as well as "WINDSOR VT./1847". The stock has numerous small handling bruises including some wood loss around the rear barrel band and some stable cracks on the left side of the stock at the barrel tang. The cartouches are faint but still legible. The brass furniture has developed a darke ocher patina, slightly lighter on the patchbox which looks to have been cleaned at some point. This is a very good plus, Mexican War dated Mississippi Rifle in its original configuration. (1958-3) {ANTIQUE} (1500/2500) SOLD FOR $2875.00
