58 Caliber, 33" barrel with a fair bore having dark pitting within the grooves. This 1852 dated rifle has the New York State alteration for a saber bayonet and has a lug on the right side 3 1/2" back from the muzzle, numbered "66". The barrel has a mottled gray patina with dark pitting around the nipple and bolster, and the lock has a dark gray patina with some small peen marks on the plate just behind the hammer. The stock has numerous small handling marks and blemishes visible with some slivers missing from the edges of the ramrod channel. The wood has a nice, added military oil finish with still visible cartouches on the left side opposite the lock. The brass furniture was lightly cleaned and has a somewhat muted yellow patina. This is a very good Mississippi Rifle overall and would make a nice addition to any collection. (1958-61) {ANTIQUE} (1500/2500)
