serial #59141, 12ga., 26" barrels choked skeet and skeet with bright excellent bores. Barrels have 2 3/4" chambers and are marked on the underside "special steel B", but are blackpowder proved only. The barrels retain about 70% fading original blue. The frame and lockplates retain about 35-40% fading casecolors the balance being a pleasing pewter patina; they exhibit nice tight scroll engraving over 80% of their surface, with geometric filigree and border engraving. The English walnut stock is scant pistolgrip style with teardrops to the rear of the plates, forend is splinter style with patent release. Both are nicely checkered and rate near excellent. There are some minor cracks beginning at the rear of the lockplates, with proper relief this could be remedied. The gun wears a 1" ventilated recoil pad for a 14 1/2" length of pull with drops of 1 5/8" and 2 3/4". Lockup is still tight however the top lever has worn in completely. Rib wears dual target beads and shows where one midrib bead was plugged. (2027-92) {ANTIQUE} [Stan Terhune Collection] (2000/2500)
