Fine Winchester 1866 Third Model Carbine

serial #47629, 44 RF, 20" round barrel with full magazine and a bright excellent bore. This is a very fine '66. The barrel and magazine retain about 50% original blue which is thinning evenly and blending with a pleasing smooth gray brown patina. The action bears a lovely untouched mustard colored patina with crisp edges. The loading gate retains about 75% original fire blue. The hammer retains a good deal of faded original case color, the lever is more of a smooth brown patina with traces of color present. The plain walnut stocks rate excellent, the buttstock may have had a little light finish added, it is somewhat more prevalent on forend. The original rifle buttplate bears the same lovely patina as the action and has compartment which contains the original three-piece iron cleaning rod. A very fine 1866 carbine.
