69 caliber, 44 11/16" barrel. The lock is properly marked with eagle clutching laurel over "U.S." in oval ahead of cock and "JENKS'S / RI / 1813" vertically to rear of cock. The barrel is marked with eaglehead over "CT" in sunken oval. The stock bears no cartouche and shows the initials "JW" carved into left side of butt in 3/4" letters. The condition of this musket is nice. The barrel bears a pleasing even gray patina with some light pitting present in breech area only with touchole worn open slightly. The lock is also gray with some light very fine surface corrosion present. All markings are clear and very legible. The stock rates excellent with strong edges and most of its original finish. There is a very small chip from rear of lock that barely warrants mention. All iron furniture bears a nice gray brown patina and correct iron ramrod is present. A nice honest 1808 contract musket.
