serial #52973, 40-82 W.C.F., 26" octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel and full length magazine tube are mostly a grayish brown mix with specks of light rust staining and signs of some cleaning taking place. The breechblock retains 98% original blue finish. The receiver on this 1891 manufactured rifle retains about 85% original color case hardening which is still quite strong on the flats and softening elsewhere. The hammer, lever, and forend cap retain strong original case colors with some mellowing. The straight grip walnut buttstock and forend rate near excellent except for a short crack behind the tang and traveling along the right side. These stocks show some light dings but still retain 95% original varnish. This rifle is equipped with a standard front sight, slot blank in the rear dovetail and a Lyman No. 1 tang peep sight. A few of the screws have misshapen heads. A classic old Winchester rifle in very fine condition. (2011-24) {ANTIQUE} [Dom Morin Collection] (3500/5500)
