serial #64694, 30 W.C.F., 26" part round part octagon nickel steel barrel with a good but dark bore. The metal surfaces on this 1896 manufactured rifle are mostly a grayish brown patina with some scattered specks of oxidation and perhaps 25% thinning original blue finish remaining. The hammer and lever still retain some original case colors in protected areas. The capped and checkered pistol grip fancy walnut buttstock and forend rate very good to near excellent with a few coats of added linseed oil. The checkering on the belly of the forend is starting to get thin and four shallow notches have been added to the right side of the buttstock just ahead of the checkering. This rifle is equipped with a Lyman No. 4 ivory hunting front sight, standard sporting leaf rear sight, a Lyman No. 1 tang peep sight, and a smooth steel shotgun buttplate. A nice honest antique takedown deluxe rifle. (2097-3) {ANTIQUE} (3500/4500) SOLD FOR $4025.00
