serial #1574, 22-3000 R-2 Lovell, 24" barrel with an excellent, professionally relined, bore. Barrel and lever retain about 98% rust blue finish. The factory engraved Model 54 frame retains about 80% thinning case colors, it features overall geometric engraving with blank monogram panels at the center of each frame flat. The stocks are a beautiful grade of American black walnut, the butt being Monte Carlo style with a rounded cheekpiece. The forend is a trim sporting style and features a wraparound, bordered checkering pattern, with an oval German silver monogram plate at its rear. The pistol grip has dual checkered panels, and a steel grip cap. The butt wears a checkered Niedner style crescent buttplate. There is an oval monogram plate along the toeline, both plates are engraved (one with Ed D. Adams initials, the other with the consignors). The wood rates excellent, it appears to be as-new, the consignor states it is original wood which has been professionally refinished. The gun is equipped with a loop style lever and a double set triggers. The barrel now has a half-rib, atop which sit Unertl rings which mount a J. Unertl 12X scope with crosshair reticle and very good optics. The gun comes with a three ring looseleaf binder full of targets spanning 1970-1976, the very first target in the binder however is dated October 29, 1959, and reads "at Glendale rifle range-with Colonel Townsend Whelen and Herman Haas/ beautiful day". Also included with the gun are forming and sizing dies by Pacific and RCBS as well as steel case length and chamber gauges and a set of manual loading dies by B&M. There are instructions for loading and forming cases as well as loading data, three sealed boxes of Griffin and Howe 22-3000 cases (50 per box), 100 new 25-20 cases, 2 pounds of once fired brass, and about 100 other cases some primed some not. This is truly a stunning rifle, the workmanship is second to none, which was owned by a prominent shooter who was a contemporary of and friends with Colonel Townsend Whelen. A nice complete outfit which needs nothing but projectiles, powder and primers for you to go to the range and start shooting. This gun was aquired by the consignor personally from Mr. Ed D. Adams.
