serial #179119 all matching including wedge, 31 caliber, 6" octagon barrel. The backstrap of this revolver is beautifully period engraved "Wm. F. Schreiber". William F. Schreiber was a Sergeant in Spear's Independent Company of Pennsylvania Militia Infantry. This company was in existence for only 34 days from 6/17/63 until 7/21/63. A cursory check of records turned up no other information linking Schreiber to another unit. The barrel is gray brown with some scattered patches of pitting mostly toward muzzle. The cylinder is the same color, retains 85% cylinder scene and also has a little patchy pitting. The frame is more smooth and bears the same pleasing gray patina. The brass grip straps retain 90% plus original silver plated finish and the one piece walnut grips rate excellent with one small chip from left heel. Revolver looks like it was stored for many years in a holster and some oxidation had begun on barrel and cylinder. A neat identified Civil War pocket. (1758-86) {ANTIQUE} (1500/2500) SOLD FOR $3162.50
