serial #67185, 32-40, 30" octagon Stevens-Pope barrel (barrel #799) with a very good bright bore. The barrel has no provision for open sights, is fitted with scope blocks and shows two pairs of additional scope block holes which are now filled with filler screws. The barrel retains 80% evenly thinning original blue finish. The action retains 90% original case color which has mellowed over time. The checkered pistol grip walnut stock and forend are of highly figured walnut and rate excellent with about 95% original "extra" finish and with very good to excellent checkering which shows just a little wear, mostly on forend. Rifle is equipped with its original nickel plated Swiss buttplate and Winchester single set trigger. Factory records indicate that this rifle was received and shipped on August 11, 1894 as a rifle, 25-20, half octagon 28" number two barrel, plain trigger, checkered stock with pistol grip, Swiss butt. It was returned and repaired on February 6, 1895 we assume that this was when the single set trigger was added. A very handsome Low Wall rifle.
