serial #46595, registration #398, 8 3/4" barrel with a bright excellent bore. Metal surfaces on this superb target model revolver retain about 98% original blue finish, the loss being some very minor abrasions and a light cylinder ring. The trigger and grooved hammer exhibit excellent casecolors. The gun has been fitted with a lovely set of checkered rosewood grips with left side thumbrest and beaded lower border. The grips rate excellent and are very similar to Roper offerings although the checkering is somewhat coarser. The included factory letter shows a ship date of August 1935 to a Mr. Meyers at the Omaha, Nebraska Police Department. Shipped with a 1/10" partridge front and square notch rear sight, the gun shows a period upgrade to a white outline rear blade and orange insert Kings reflector front sight. A cursory search reveals no famous target shooters named Meyers, the likely assumption is that he was a member of the Omaha Police Department pistol team. As mentioned, the revolver comes with a factory letter as well as an advertising brochure on the "S&W .357 magnum" detailing its features and with an unused order blank for the revolver on its rear page, additionally a small instruction sheet on care is included. Really a lovely Registered Magnum overall that would benefit from further research. (1996-12) {C&R} (5000/7000) SOLD FOR $5175.00
