Engraved Winchester First Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle

serial #3356, 44-40, 24" octagon barrel with full magazine and a fair to good bore. This rifle features beautiful period relief scroll engraving in the manner and style of L. D. Nimschke. The engraving is of the early style with large deeply cut scrolls commonly found on 1866 rifles. In addition to the action and the sideplates, the sliding dust cover, bottom of follower, forend cap and buttplate tang are also all engraved. Metal surfaces of rifle retain a pleasing even brown patina and are generally smooth and free of pitting. The plain walnut stocks have rich color and rate excellent as refinished. Rifle features German silver blade Rocky Mountain front sight, original early style rear sporting sight and original single set trigger.
