serial #32941, 32-40, 30" part round part octagon lightweight barrel with a bright excellent bore. Top of barrel is marked "RIFLED BY H. M. POPE", bottom of barrel bears matching Ballard serial number and is additionally marked with Pope's number "450" and "25 / 1.41". This rifle features original adjustable double set triggers and Pacific lever. The barrel retains 80% evenly thinning original blue finish, rear dovetail is filled with blank and there is a single additional hole drilled and tapped about an inch ahead of the action. The action retains over 90% original color casehardened finish with a little spotty light surface oxidation on right side. The plain walnut stocks are excellent with over 95% original finish and original checkered hard rubber Ballard shotgun buttplate. The top of the buttstock just ahead of buttplate is inlaid with a 3 1/8" by 7/8" silverplated brass plate which remains unadorned.
