J. Patstone Underlever Double Hammer Rifle in .450 BPE

serial #2498, .450 3 1/4" BPE, 26" barrels with bright excellent bores. This is a Jones underlever rifle featuring rebounding hammers. Each lock is engraved "J. PATSTONE" and the barrels are engraved "J. Patstone 25 High St. Southampton / Silver Medals Paris 1878 London 1885". The barrels retain 95% of an old excellent quality restored black finish. The action and locks which feature only the simplest border engraving retain 90% of their original case color which remains quite strong. The checkered pistol grip walnut buttstock and splinter forend show nice figure and rate excellent plus with 95% oil finish remaining which may have been restored but is truly as good as original. Fit and finish is lovely. The forend features a rotating lever release and the rifle boasts a 14 13/16" pull over original steel shotgun buttplate with coarsely checkered center. Rifle is on face, tight and features a low profile beaded blade front sight with single standing and single folding leaf rear sight graduated for 150 in 250 yards.
