Wonderful Alexander Henry Best Quality Falling Block Sporting Rifle

serial #6056, 500/450 No. 1 Express, 30" round barrel with a very good plus bore that shows just a little light pitting just ahead of throat. This rifle is of fabulous quality and remains in lovely original condition. This rifle features full coverage fine English scroll engraving with "ALEXr HENRY" in riband on lock. The top of the barrel is engraved "ALEXr HENRY EDINBURGH & LONDON". The top front of action is marked in circular pattern "PATENT / No. 2300". The barrel retains about 75% evenly thinning original blue finish which is blending with a pleasing smooth plum brown patina. The action and lock retain over 90% original color case hardened finish which has darkened slightly and has a lovely appearance. The checkered pistol grip buttstock and key fastened Henry style forend are of nicely figured English walnut and rate very good plus with about 95% original finish remaining with scattered handling marks and some light bruises, particularly on forend. Rifle features a low-profile beaded blade front sight and a single standing and two folding leaf rear sight. The buttstock features a graceful shadowline cheekpiece, horn grip cap and checkered steel shotgun buttplate. Rear of top tang shows two holes very neatly drilled and tapped with a stud between them, they look factory original and appear to be for a tang sight.
