serial #67719, 40-70 S.S., 30" octagon No. 3 weight barrel with an excellent bore which is bright but shows a little scattered light corrosion. This rifle remains in quite nice condition. The barrel retains 90% plus evenly thinning original blue finish with a bruise on lower left flat just ahead of forend tip. The action retains about 85% original color casehardened finish with good vividness on left side and right side more faded to a smooth German silver color. Rifle is equipped with a high-quality modern windgauge adjustable front sight with spirit level, standard buckhorn sporting rear and midrange vernier tang peep sight. The plain walnut stocks rate very good with a couple bruises and otherwise just normal light handling marks. There was likely a little light finish added long ago. Rifle comes with a set of dies and assorted cast bullets and empty brass cases. Factory records confirm the configuration of the rifle and show a ship date of September 5, 1894. A handsome thickside High Wall in a less common chambering. (1915-83) {ANTIQUE} [Ray Day Collection] (5000/7000) SOLD FOR $4600.00
