serial #7220, 450/400 Nitro Express, 26" barrels with very good bores having light frosting within the grooves and strong rifling. This rifle features Birmingham proofs, Krupp steel barrels, simple straight line border engraving, third fastener, and a three leaf rear sight graduated at 100, 200, and 300 yards mounted on a matted quarter rib with ramped front sight. The barrels have traces of maker blue remaining with the balance having turned a darkly mottled plum-gray color. The frame and lockplates have a matching patina with some original blue still visible on the top lever. The action is still tight and functional, but the barrels are now ever so slightly off-face. The checkered splinter forend and pistol grip buttstock have been nicely refinished with excellent sharp points and very few handling marks. Further fitting is required as there are some moderate gaps between the metal and wood where they meet. The length of pull measures 14 3/8" to a new, unmarked rubber recoil pad, with drops of 1 1/2" at the comb and 2" at the heel. This is an overall good nitro double which could use a little TLC.
