This set consists of a 20 ga. gun serial #201469 with 28" Chromox steel tubes choked modified and full; and a 12 ga. gun serial #27276 with 30" Chromox steel barrels choked improved modified and extra full. Bores are bright excellent. Both of these shotguns have been expertly restocked in beautifully checkered and figured walnut with round knob pistol grips and long splinter forends with inlaid horn schnabel tips. The actions retain 99% lovely restored case colored finish with engraving chased so it is sharp and crisp. The barrels each retain 99% excellent rust blued finish, the chambers are still original 2 1/2" length. Shotguns come cased together in a lovely Abercombie & Fitch oak & leather double trunk style case with red lining. Interior of case is all original and the guns fit perfectly; we feel they were likely purchased together and cased at A&F. Both guns have 14 3/4" pulls over grooved hard rubber buttplates, the 20 ga. has drops of 1 5/8" and 2 7/8" and the 12 ga. has drops of 1 3/4" and 2 1/2". The quality of the restoration is superb, likely done by either Connecticut Shotgun or Turnbull. The 12 ga. gun was originally manufactured in 1921, the 20 ga. gun in 1919 according to serial number records, with the dates this close it is highly likely that these were ordered as a matching pair. An absolutely fabulous, classic set of American doubles that can be taken afield and used as they were intended without the concern of a nick or scratch.
