serial #49065, 219 improved zipper, 26" medium weight barrel by master barrel maker C. C. Johnson. Bore rates excellent. Barrel and lever retain about 99% rust blue finish, the barrel showing one or two very minor scratches. The frame is a lovely French gray and is engraved with a good-quality loose scroll, the flats showing European-style game scenes of deer and antelope. The lever as well shows light scroll engraving, it's tip being lightly checkered. The stock is a very nice grade of American black walnut, it is stocked Monte Carlo style with a flared shadowline cheekpiece by master Jerry Fisher. The forend features a contrasting rosewood tip with a matching pistol grip; borderless checkering patterns are flawless, the front being a nice wraparound, with dual grip panels. The butt wears a checkered steel crescent Niedner style plate. Stocks rate excellent with perhaps a couple very minor dings. The barrel wears target blocks which mount a Lyman Super Targetspot 10X scope with adjustable objective and excellent optics. Gun is equipped with a single set trigger. This is a beautiful rifle with flawless workmanship barreled by one of the great old masters of accurate barrel making. (2045-3) (4000/6000) |
