serial #11118, 450/400 BPE, 26" barrels with excellent, bright bores. This is a lovely little rifle which features a three leaf rear sight graduated to 50-150, 200, and 250 yards, side clips, lightly engraved back action lockplates, and a pistol grip stock with rounded cheekpiece. The barrels retain 98% plus maker applied blue with some very mild fading present at the muzzle and towards the breech. The triggerguard has nearly all of its lustrous blue remaining while the top lever has about 70% blue and the balance flaked a mild plum color. The action has vivid case colors remaining with the only graying occuring at the terminal of the contoured top tang. The splinter forend and nicely figured buttstock have some scattered minor handling marks in the oil finish with crisp checkering and a blank, tarnished silver escutcheon on the belly of the butt. Length of pull measures 14 1/2" to a grooved composite buttplate and drop measures 1 1/2" at comb, 2 1/2" at heel. This is wonderful double rifle from one of England's most prestigious makers in excellent overall condition. (2027-132) {C&R} [Stan Terhune Collection] (12,000/16,000) SOLD FOR $10925.00
