serial #146167, 24" round barrel in 45-90 WCF with half magazine and a bright excellent bore as well as a 24" round barrel and 33 WCF with half magazine and a bright excellent bore. This rifle is in excellent condition retaining 98% blue on 45-90 barrel and about 90 - 95% evenly thinning original blue on the 33 WCF barrel. The action retains 90% factory blue finish with belly turning to a pleasing gray brown patina. Case color on hammer and lever has faded but remains mostly visible. The checkered pistol grip walnut buttstock and both forends are nicely checkered and retain over 90% of their original rubbed oil finish. The 45-90 barrel is equipped with a Beach combination front sight and two leaf folding rear, the 33 WCF barrel is equipped with a Lyman Sheard style front and two leaf folding rear sight. The action is equipped with a Lyman 21 receiver sight which is properly coded "NI" on back. This rifle falls into a block of numbers for which there are no records. We removed the buttstock to check for assembly numbers and noticed original assembly numbers struck through and a new number added on lower tang and each side of the top tang is stamped "REFINISHED". The finish of the rifle is clearly factory, the polish is perfect and the finish is old. It is our opinion that is rifle shipped in the same configuration with one barrel and was later returned to the factory to be fitted with the second barrel and at that time was refinished and so marked.
