32-40, 29" octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. Top of barrel is marked "H. M. POPE" and bottom of barrel is marked with Pope's number "311" and is dated 6/14/12. This is an original No. 4 weight Winchester barrel which was rifled by Pope and set back approximately one inch. The rifle is equipped with scope blocks as well as a windgauge front and midrange vernier tang peep sight. A Lyman 5A telescopic sight is mounted on adjustable mounts. The barrel retains about 95% original blue finish. The action has been fitted with a set of adjustable double set triggers which includes a replacement tang. The action retains 90% old excellent quality color casehardened finish. The checkered straight grip walnut stock and forend rate very good plus. The checkering is in a finer pattern than typically cut by the factory and is likely nice period custom work. Rifle is equipped with a nickel plated brass Swiss buttplate and forend is neatly drilled for palm rest. The rifle comes with the following unmarked Pope accessories: lubricating pump, bullet mold, re-de-capper, bullet seating tool, wooden loading rod, piston bullet starter and original false muzzle numbered "311". A handsome Pope High Wall rifle. (1915-19) [Ray Day Collection] (6000/8000) SOLD FOR $12650.00
