Winchester-Schoyen Model 1885 High Wall Target Rifle

.38-55, 30" part round part octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore marked on top flat "GEO. C. SCHOYEN DENVER". The barrel features Schoyen's nine groove uniform right-hand twist rifling and retains a pleasing smooth mix of original brown finish blending with a gray-brown patina. The action retains about 70% original color casehardened finish which has softened over time, is blending with a smooth brown patina and has a pleasing slightly subdued appearance. The rifle features a spur finger lever and single set trigger. The typical Schoyen style checkered pistol grip walnut buttstock and forend rate excellent with about 75% of their original finish remaining. The iron buttplate features a large underhook and is drilled and tapped on top as well as top of buttstock just ahead of buttplate tang for long-range Creedmoor style sight. The forend is equipped with a period palm rest in typical Southern California style. The rifle features a modern windgauge adjustable front sight with spirit level, no rear seat and a midrange vernier adjustable tang peep sight. The rifle comes with a Schoyen lubricating pump, Schoyen style reproduction re-de-capper, a breech seating tool along with some assorted documents and a target shot by Ray Day on 11-15-94.
