Stevens Model 54 Schuetzen Rifle on 44 1/2 Action

.33-40, 32" part round part octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is a most unusual rifle. The barrel is marked on top left flat "STEVENS 33 SPECIAL / F.C. ROSS" the top right flat is marked "J. STEVENS A. & T. CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A.". The bottom of the barrel under forend is stamped "E. RIDGE", "FCR" and "3". The action features nice intertwined relief floral scroll engraving with bear in panel scene left and standing buck in panel scene right. The barrel retains 99% high-quality rust blued finish. The action case colors have faded to a silvery gray color. The rifle features custom plain pistol grip walnut buttstock with cheekpiece and schnabel tipped forend which have lovely figure and are fitted on shortened action tangs utilizing a through bolt for mounting. The rifle is equipped with adjustable double set triggers, original Stevens lever with walnut panels and a Lyman Super Targetspot 12 power scope mounted on blocks. The original Stevens iron buttplate is numbered 11917. Rifle comes with a wooden shooters kit which includes a breech seating tool, re-de-capper, various cast bullets and cartridge cases. Also included in the shooter's case is a small notepad with Mr. Day's loading notes along with several targets shot by Ray Day. An interesting rifle. (1915-16) [Ray Day Collection] (4000/6000)
