Winchester Model 1885 High Wall Sporting Rifle

serial #89871, .32-40, 30" part round part octagon barrel with a bright near excellent bore. This is a handsome rifle. The barrel is equipped with scope blocks and rear slot is filled with blank. The rifle is equipped with Schuetzen set triggers as well as fancy checkered pistol grip buttstock and forend with sling eyes and nickel plated Swiss buttplate. The barrel retains about 90% evenly thinning original blue finish. The action retains 90% strong original color casehardened finish. The checkered walnut stocks rate excellent with about 85% original finish remaining. While all components of this rifle are original Winchester products, this rifle was likely assembled into this configuration during the first part of the last century. Factory records show this rifle leaving the factory as a 32 WCF, 28" octagon No. 2 weight barrel, Schuetzen set trigger, checkered stock with pistol grip, cheek piece, rod in the butt and shipped on July 5, 1901. Rifle is equipped with a globe target front sight and a Remington Walker style folding tang peep sight which may be a reproduction. An attractive deluxe High Wall sporting rifle.
