serial #1802, 30" part round part octagon medium weight barrel in .38-55 and 30" part round part octagon slightly lighter weight barrel in .32-40. Both barrels exhibit bright excellent bores. The action features tasteful loose factory scroll engraving and displays about 90% original case color which has softened over time but remains mostly visible. The .32-40 barrel retains about 90% original blue finish overall. The .38-55 barrel retains 95% plus original blue finish overall. The checkered pistol grip walnut buttstock with cheekpiece and each schnabel tipped forend rate excellent plus with over 95% original finish remaining and with strong, sharp checkering. The rifle is equipped with a lovely full-length Malcolm telescope on original Malcolm mounts, the scope matches the condition of the barrels quite nicely. The .32-40 caliber barrel features a windgauge front sight and rifle is fitted with original Stevens windage adjustable midrange vernier tang peep sight. The .32-40 barrel has a rear dovetail so it would also accept the Malcolm telescope. This is a fabulous model 49 Stevens in completely honest condition.
