LC Smith Field Grade Boxlock Double
serial # FW45136, 12ga., 28" barrels choked mod and full with about excellent, bright bores showing a very sparse minor pit or two. The barrel's retain about 85% original blue, the balance fading to a deep gray-blue patina. The frame and lockplates exhibit about 95% nice case colors, the balance a mix of silver casehardening and mild brown patina, mostly at the carry point. The checkered, capped pistol grip walnut buttstock and splinter style forend rate very good to near excellent as re-varnished. There are two minor cracks at the rear of each lockplate and a very small chip missing to the rear of the top tang. Lockup is tight. Rib wears dual ivory beads. Length of pull to the original buttplate is 14 1/4" with drops of 1 9/16" and 2 7/8". (1898-31) {C&R} (700/900) SOLD FOR $690.00 |
